Becky Nuttall

Working from her South Devon-based studio Becky creates mixed media works, collages, paintings and drawings. Within these works are text and illustrations from old bibles and art books; also included are fragments from art school portfolios abandoned in her house. These date from the 1940’s through to the 21st century and provide a unique form of collaboration with past and present artists including her father, her children and her own work as a child.

Becky is currently working on three ongoing projects. Art of the School references the religious prints hanging on her convent school walls along with the effect of religious violence, piety and guilt on adolescence. Medals for the Imagination commemorate the subconscious artist. Family Tree is a series of paintings and drawings that reference becky’s family tree through the places and objects they loved; within these pictures referencing the daughters of the artists.
